A Charcoal Night

Wicker 04:18
No dreams come, and I don't know why I never fall awake at night Hours half spent in the back of time are ever mine the morning light Conjures weight of necessity that in the dark may seem to far Still I pause and I don't know why I never fall I never fall . . . Footsteps Turn round the corner of your mind Then they're gone Never heard from again So long ago In ancient times immortal ties are bound to pull you out Only to drop you from the highest point No dreams come and I don't know why I never fall awake at night Hours half spent in the back of time are ever mine the morning light Conjures weight of necessity that in the dark may seem to far Still I pause and i don't know why I never fall I never fall . . . Misled, tortured and abused or so it seemed For a time Pieces are memories Cried on the wall I wrote them down and held them deep so when you're alive I can find them Find them if you want me to

The carriage and horse of cherished desire Aren't filled with remorse or fanned by my fire, But severed by teeth or broken by hands What lies underneath the surface demands When my determination yields, the conscience deems To live in barren fields and drink from bitter streams The clouds on the storm of my restless aim Aren't drawn by the warmth of my dying flame, But I glow with stars when night comes on black And heals all the scars tomorrow brings back
4.
Take me back again I’ve been waiting for so long All I ever wanted is this Signed sealed and delivered with your kiss Take me back (or I don’t know what I’ll do)

Windsor 05:00
I had to return, though it steals away my life, to find so little i remember From days of early childhood Before i ever thought of time, building snowmen in the winter I never wanted more than all the diamonds in the world Perhaps not even that much I find it hard to say, I’m finding so few words That tell the fear of being lost and not being looked for Like a blurry morning, putting colours into place until the room is as it was before But nothing is familiar I don't recognize a face Every monument seems foreign It's a lovely autumn, where the trees all turn to red and the leaves fall to the ground below Still this could be Bristol It's clearly someone else's field It's far too late to wait for seeds to grow I never wanted more than to reflect an honest smile But that's just chasing rainbows I find it hard to sleep with nothing left to keep and nothing more to give away and less to return to I cursed at the first day When as a child i swore I'd stay forever Sitting by the old house under clouds and falling rain Hoping for a change of atmosphere I wish I'd never left here Sometimes I wish I'd not been born I often wish I had a home somewhere
6.
The darkness is everywhere I know because I put it there Don't let that frighten you As most are prone to Sometimes I light a candle To watch it flicker in the shadows Don't let that frighten you It's not an easy thing to do Have you ever poured a glass of wine to watch the crimson bubbles shine? Like candlelight swimming through the glass How silently the hours pass The darkness is all around, The only contentment I've found Don't let that frighten you Like all the others do Don't let that frighten you
